JoY Gardening Service, is a garden maintenance business based on the Kapiti Coast is a local favourite with nine down-to-earth, hardworking team members. Serving over 160 clients, we work hard transforming gardens with care and passion while also being efficient and knowledgeable. This is a great space to share our journey and dedication to our clients. We take pride in our team and the wide range of services we provide to enhance the beauty of gardens.

With a dedicated group of 9 we cover most of your gardening needs.

I bring a strong work ethic, gardening knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a conscientious approach to meeting each clients needs.

To complement our garden services, we’re proud to work alongside John Heenan of Johnny’s Tree Services.

John brings years of practical experience helping clients maintain, shape and improve their outdoor spaces through skilled hedge and tree work. From detailed ornamental pruning to larger reductions and removals, John takes a thoughtful and practical approach to achieving the best result for both the garden and the client.

For larger or more specialised tree work, John collaborates with experienced arborists where required.

John

Growing up on a small lifestyle block surrounded by big gardens, Caley has always had a strong connection to nature and being outdoors. With a background in the equine industry and two horses of her own that event, hard work and caring for land and animals have been part of everyday life for years. Previous experience working in the horse industry has included both hands-on horse care and maintaining rural and lifestyle properties — building a great appreciation for outdoor work and the satisfaction that comes from seeing spaces cared for and transformed. Now bringing that same energy into the JoY Gardening team, Caley loves getting stuck in and takes real pride in a job well done. Alongside working, she is also studying part-time towards a Bachelor of Agricultural Science through Massey University, continuing to grow her knowledge and passion for the land. Friendly, hardworking and always happy to roll up her sleeves, Caley enjoys helping create outdoor spaces people can truly enjoy.

When Jen moved to Kapiti 9 years ago she set herself some “adventure”

goals. One of her goals was to create a magical garden at home. She has

spent the last 7 years developing her extensive garden at home which she

designed, dug and now cherishes!

Another goal was to eventually move into the garden/nursery work

environment. Her previous vocation for the past 35 years was helping people

work constructively together to develop positive work environments.

Now she has achieved her move to garden work by joining the JoY Gardening

Team! She loves being part of the team so she can continue the journey of

learning more about nature and never giving up!!

She brings passion, determination (essential in gardening) and, gets excited by

masses of flowers and colour, the sound of bees and eating the produce we

grow.

Joy has been with us for three and a half years now. An experienced and knowledgeable gardener with 28 years behind her. She had 6 years with Wellington City council including 2 years as sole gardener for the Tawa area. She brings enthusiasm and expertise and an admirable work ethic to every project. Has a keen eye for detail and a passion for excellence ensuring every task is completed with precision and care. Her friendly nature and positive attitude make her a pleasure to work alongside. So many of the team love to work with her.She loves her animals and can often have her furry friends join her. But only if the property owner allows and is able.We’re lucky to have Joy on our team!

Strong, Reliable & Always Ready to Get Stuck In

Esiah brings energy, determination, and an incredible work ethic to the JoY Gardening team. While he’s newer to the gardening industry, what he may lack in years of experience he more than makes up for with enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to tackle the tougher jobs head-on.

Esiah is our go-to for the heavier mahi — from digging and planting through to weedeating, heavy weeding, and helping transform overgrown spaces into something special. He’s not afraid of hard work and approaches every job with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to do his best.

Clients appreciate Esiah’s friendly nature, strong work ethic, and the care he puts into every property. He’s constantly learning and growing his skills alongside the team and has become a valued part of bringing JoY Gardening projects to life.

JoY Gardening welcomes Leanne.

She’s the ex owner of Stihl Shop Kapiti, has a passion for gardening and a natural green thumb. She is currently developing a 3 ½ acre lifestyle block in Waikanae using permaculture methods, including an organic orchard, vegetable and berry garden. She has a flair for garden design and enjoys researching the best plants to suit the location and is currently studying Garden Design online.

She’s already a valued member of our team. Has a wonderful personality and fits in with all of our other workers. Not scared to do the mahi.

Project Spotlight: A planting job we are really proud of.

We recently teamed up on an exciting protect in Waikawa Beach with awesome landscape contractor Alistair Laing from Complete Contracting and talented landscape architect Rebecca Wilson from Earthwork Landscape Architects.
Our role? The planting and we are pretty chuffed with the result.

Our team put their heart and soul into it and got the work done in a fast and efficient time frame.
It’s been a great experience working together to help bring this project to life.
